To celebrate its second anniversary, the Louvre Abu Dhabi has teamed up with the Institut Français to present an extraordinary electro-cubist evening. More than just entertainment, it was a celebration of art in all its forms: a symbiosis of electronic music and visual artistic immersion. The result is a multi-sensory work of art that celebrates the power of artistic daring and innovation.
Artistic approach: bringing to life a synesthetic experience
International artists such as Amon Tobin, Molecule, Boogie Box and Hassan Alwan Tristan Girault were invited to present DJ Sets, while our teams at Studio BK and Ateliers BK were asked to present videos inspired by Cubism. These videos, projected onto the wall surfaces, gave the public a unique visual experience. We used VJing and immersive techniques to project Cubist-inspired graphics onto the museum’s dome and emblematic walls, with their movements punctuated by live music.
In this way, the paintings become sound and the sounds take on texture: a veritable synesthesia of the senses in an exceptional setting, where time seems suspended, where the boundaries between the real and the imaginary become blurred. The musical and visual arts have come together to form a living, ephemeral work of art, with the audience at its heart.
